About OvKit
OvKit is a free WordPress plugin, full name Ovanap Admin Toolkit. It is made by Ovanap, the trading name of Monine AS, a Norwegian limited company (org.nr 926 029 215). Write to hello@ovanap.no.
Who makes it?
Ovanap builds and looks after websites and online shops for businesses. Monine AS was registered in the Norwegian Register of Business Enterprises in 2020.
Why does OvKit exist?
Most WordPress sites need the same small fixes: remove the emoji script, close XML-RPC, stop the username probing, hide the version number, calm the admin down. The usual answer is one single-purpose plugin per fix, and a dozen of them later nobody knows what each one changed. OvKit puts those fixes behind labelled switches in one settings page. Every switch is off until you turn it on, says what it could break before you do, and every change is written to a log you can roll back. We use it on the client sites we look after.
How is it tested?
- Coding standards. The code is checked with PHP_CodeSniffer against the WordPress Coding Standards.
- Plugin Check. Each release is run through Plugin Check, the tool the WordPress.org plugin team uses to review plugins.
- A real WordPress site. Before a release the plugin is installed on a working WordPress site and the changed switches are turned on and off there, to see what they do to the pages and the admin.
What changed in each version is in the changelog.
How are the guides written?
The guides explain the settings WordPress ships with: what each one does, what it costs you, and how to change it, with or without a plugin. Where a guide says what OvKit does, that was checked against the plugin’s code. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you find a mistake, tell us at hello@ovanap.no and we fix it.
What does it cost?
The plugin is free, with all 44 features, on any number of sites. Pro is an optional add-on; see pricing. Both are licensed under the GPL, version 2 or later, like WordPress itself.
